Dear WordBrewery users:
bet6I am sorry to report that due to an increase in our web hosting costs, WordBrewery is now closed. We hope to find new life for the service in another format.
bet6I designed WordBrewery in 2015 as a tool to keep up my language study during spare moments in my day job as a lawyer. The first version was an offline command line tool called "Parser." Its sentences came from public-domain books at . I then decided to build an online app along with a web scraper to gather sentences from news websites.
The app has since automatically curated millions of authentic sentences in twenty languages, then used these sentences to teach high-frequency vocabulary in context to thousands of users. You can read more about its methods in the blog posts below:
What we did:
It is hard to say goodbye to a project into which I and others have poured so many hours of creative energy. But new doors open for every door that closes. Always nurture your love of learning and appreciate the inexhaustible beauty of language.
bet6 Thank you,
